Aaron Boone told Evan & Tiki the Yankees are going “day-by-day” with Aaron Judge’s rehab, but it looks like the day may be Friday?
According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Yankees plan to activate Judge on Friday in Baltimore, baring a setback. Sherman reports that Judge had wanted to play in the Subway Series, but the Yankees decided to be cautious, and will instead activate him Friday.
Judge went down to the Yankees’ facility in Tampa earlier this week and has been getting at-bats in live batting practice and simulated games, similar to what he did with Jonathan Loaisiga over the weekend.
The slugger suffered a sprained right big toe on June 3 when he crashed into the wall at Dodger Stadium making a catch, and a Friday activation would put his absence just shy of eight weeks.
Judge was having another MVP-caliber season at the time of his injury, slashing .291/.404/.674 with 19 home runs and 40 RBI in 49 games.
However, the team is 18-23 in his absence, and are hitting .220 with a .671 OPS and averaging under four runs per game.
