With names like Colton Cowser, Jackson Holliday, Gunnar Henderson, and Adley Rutschman, to name just a few, the Baltimore Orioles are flush with young talent as the front office looks ahead at the 2025 season. This embarrassment of riches could actually be a speed bump this offseason, general manager Mike Elias told The Big Bad Morning Show.
Elias said the Orioles wanted to add a veteran bat over the coming months, but he wouldn't rush to a decision as there are many factors at play.
"One challenge for us is we have a lot of returning position players that fill out the lineup pretty nicely just with the young guys," said Elias. "So we've got to look at the right profiles to make sure that this veteran we're bringing in fits in well, has the right amount of playing time, and gels with the rest of the lineup.
"That can make things a little trickier as you go through the offseason trying find the right guy and thread the needle, but it's definitely on the shopping list for us to bring in some position player help."
