Social justice and sports crossed paths again on Monday night, as the Minnesota Twins postponed their Monday night series opener against the Boston Red Sox in response to the death of Minneapolis-area native Daunte Wright. Wright was accidentally killed by police in an incident on Sunday night, when a 26-year-veteran of the force mistakenly discharged their firearm instead of using their taser. Since Wright's death, unrest has spread throughout the city, causing city officials in the Twin Cities to impose a 9pm curfew. The placement of curfew, as well as the belief that playing the game would be disrespectful to Wright's family, led Minnesota Twins' officials to postpone Monday's game. The city's other two professional teams, the NBA's Timberwolves and the NHL's Wild, quickly followed suit and canceled their games. Red Sox manager Alex Cora spoke about the postponement, saying he and his team agreed with the move, and added, "There's more important things than the game."

Rob and Jeremy kicked off Tuesday's Big Bad Morning Show with a discussion about the recent events in the Twin Cities. The last 11 months has seen athletes and sports leagues take many different stands on social justice. Some sports fans struggled to see what the death of Wright and a baseball, basketball, or hockey game have to do with each other, but like Alex Cora said, some things are bigger than a game. Listen in as Rob and Jeremy discuss their feelings on Wright's death, the response from Minnesota's sports teams, and how it's up to us to break the cycle of hatred and violence that's plagued this country.
