Central Michigan quarterback John Keller is in serious condition after he was shot at an off-campus party on Saturday night, according to multiple reports.
University president Bob Davies released a statement on Sunday, which said that two students were shot at an off-campus apartment complex. The other student is senior Tyler Bunting, who is believed to be in stable condition, per authorities.
Isabella County Sheriffs Office posted on Facebook that they arrived to the scene at 1 a.m. after receiving calls of shots fired where they discovered the two students who were shot.
No suspect has yet to be identified and the reason for the shooting remains unclear.
A press release from the Isabella Sheriff’s Department stated that a fight broke out at the party and someone retrieved the weapon from a car and returned to the party firing.
Keller, who transferred from the University of Cincinnati, did not play the 2020 season due to the NCAA’s transfer requirements.
