On Tuesday, FanGraphs released their MLB playoff projections for the 2021 season, and though many Orioles fans weren't expecting much out of these projections, they definitely weren't expecting the number: 0.0. That's right, FanGraphs gave the Orioles, literally, zero chance to play in this year's postseason. The reaction was a mixture of confusion, outrage, and dismissal. Of course, these are projections but a zero percent chance? What actually goes in to these projections?
On Wednesday, Rob and Jeremy went to the source and welcomed FanGraphs Senior Writer, and Orioles fan, Dan Szymborski on to the Big Bad Morning Show. Rob and Jeremy asked Dan what goes into the projections and how much weight they really carry. The guys also get into what the future may hold for the O's and discuss how some of the other teams around the league did during the offseason.
