When Art Modell moved the Browns franchise from Cleveland to Baltimore, it was a chance at redemption for a football starved city still scorned from the departure of the Colts. While the Browns own departure from Cleveland was messy, Modell wanted to leave the old name and history behind, allowing Baltimore to build it's own legacy. But for the players that went from wearing brown to purple and black, there was one thing they brought from North East Ohio to the Mid-Atlantic: a hatred of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Offensive lineman Wally Williams was one of the players that traded his Browns jersey for a Ravens jersey in 1996, playing in Cleveland beginning in 1993 and then playing for the Ravens until 1998. Thursday on the Big Bad Morning Show, Wally made it clear that even though the team name was different, the feeling he and his teammates had towards Pittsburgh hand't changed. It was nasty, tough, and the players left everything on the field.
