New York Mets play-by-play announcer Gary Cohen created a stir earlier this week when he ripped into Cincinnati’s Skyline Chili.
Well, Cincinnati native Dan Patrick was not going to let Cohen trash his city’s delicacy without sticking up for it.
The “Dan Patrick Show” host discussed with his producers on Tuesday how Skyline Chili and Gold Star Chili in Cincinnati is more of a food you eat after a night out on the town.
After establishing this point, though, Patrick took a shot at Cohen.
“Are you this honest about the New York Mets? That’s what I want to know,” Patrick said. “If you’re going to be that honest about Gold Star chili, then I hope you give the unvarnished truth about the New York Mets.”
Cohen and the SNY booth that does Mets game have actually built themselves a reputation for not being total homers when it comes to calling Mets games.
In fact, earlier this year, Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling called out Michael Conforto for failing to get out of the way of a hit by pitch that led to a Mets walk-off win.
Nonetheless, Patrick left his audience with a suggestion when it comes to Skyline Chili.
“I would recommend trying it later in the evening and maybe have some beers,” he said. “Not many food groups do you have to say get liquored up before you try it.”
