If you’ve ever wondered who would win a chugging contest between Anthony Rizzo, Aaron Judge, and DJ LeMahieu…we have an answer, and it’s the Italian Stallion.

Rizzo, Judge, and LeMahieu spent part of Thursday’s off-day taking in Game 2 of the Rangers-Penguins playoff series at MSG, and about midway through the second period they were shown on the video board, clad in Blueshirts jerseys in their ice-side seats and enjoying some adult beverages.

That led to a chugging contest, and, well, it was no contest for Rizzo, who easily lapped LeMahieu with Judge coming in third:

To be fair to Judge, he did have the most beer left in his cup, although as someone who spent a lot of time learning the proper technique in various fraternity house basements in North Philadelphia, I can say that it doesn’t appear as if esophageal stretching was on the wholesome outfielder’s schedule at Fresno State.

As for LeMahieu, well, he’s the oldest of the bunch, so we’ll give him a pass there, and a nod for the sweet Jacob Trouba jersey he was rocking. Same for Judge and his Panarin, but double points for Rizzo rocking his own jersey No. 48, likely a personalized jersey given no one on the Rangers has that number and only two ever have worn it (maybe he’s a big fan of Brendan Lemieux?).

If they all wanted to wear their numbers, well, no one on the Rangers has 99 either, although Judge could’ve gone for a Gretzky and made it work…and LeMahieu is making $15 million, so if he was the first one to buy a Tim Gettinger jersey, no one would criticize his financial choices, although a Marty St. Louis throwback or a vintage ’94 Joey Kocur works, too.

Let’s just hope that Judge picked up the tab and/or bought the next round, given that whichever salary an arbitrator gives him this year is north of what both Rizzo and LeMahieu will make. Then again, given that a round of beers at MSG probably costs upwards of $50 with playoff pricing, maybe not…
