Trevor Bauer's controversial tenure with the Los Angeles Dodgers came to a close on Friday, when the team announced it was designating the 2020 NL Cy Young Award winner for assignment.
The move comes after the polarizing right-hander was reinstated following a record 324-game suspension, which was later reduced to 194 games, under MLB's domestic violence policy.

The development was largely expected after several prominent baseball reporters had indicated the Dodgers would indeed move on following Bauer's reinstatement late last month.
Still, with the team waiting until the last possible day to make its decision, some were beginning to wonder whether something was afoot.
But according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports, the Dodgers received no trade interest in Bauer.
