Red Sox are not bringing Ron Roenicke back to manage in 2021

The Red Sox have announced Ron Roenicke will not return to manage the team in 2021.

Roenicke will manage the final game of the regular season.

The 64-year-old took over for Alex Cora after the former Sox' manager parted ways with the team in January. It marked the second managerial stint for Roenicke, who had been the Sox' bench coach since 2018, having also served as the Brewers' skipper for five seasons.

Roenicke was widely praised for handling the off-the-field awkwardness of the 2020 season, but the team's 23-36 record (second-worst in the American League) sealed his fate.
