Zack Britton gave it a go in returning late in the season from Tommy John surgery, but his clock ran out on Saturday morning.
The Yankees announced before Saturday’s game that the left reliever had been transferred to the 60-day IL with left shoulder fatigue, ending his season and taking another bullpen arm out of play for the postseason.

Britton left Friday night’s appearance after a pitch that sailed back to the screen behind home plate, in what was just his third appearance of the year. He has now pitched just 19 innings over the last two seasons.
Britton joins Chad Green and Michael King as key Yankee relievers who are done for the year, while Clay Holmes is now also an unknown as he recovers from a shoulder strain.
