One of Wichita's major yearly sporting events begins today, as the 86th annual National Baseball Congress World Series gets underway.
This year's eight-day event during the coronavirus pandemic features 13 teams competing in a double-elimination format at two sites.
10 of the 13 teams play on opening day; the NBC World Series begins Monday, August 3, with three games in Hutchinson at Hobart-Detter Field starting at 3:00 p.m., and a pair of games at Eck Stadium on the Wichita State University campus starting at 6:00 p.m.
Fans are allowed to attend NBC World Series games.
