Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson surpassed Jim Brown for sole possession of fifth place all-time in NFL rushing touchdowns.

Washington stacked the line with bigs, bringing in linebacker Ryan Anderson in as a fullback to lead the way for Peterson, who smashed through the defense for a one-yard score less than a minute into the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The score gave Washington an early 7-0 lead.

With 107 career rushing touchdowns, Peterson, 34, now trails Walter Payton (110) by three touchdowns for fourth on the list.

Peterson got the start as the Redskins running back after Derrius Guice was placed on the IR with a knee injury after making his NFL debut last week. Head coach Jay Gruden had ruled Peterson inactive last week, but he was receiving the majority of the carries in Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
