Amazon Prime Video is reportedly considering an alternate Thursday Night Football telecast that would feature Drew Brees.

Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reports that the streaming platform is pondering the idea of a "QBs Only" alternate broadcast for Thursday Night Football. The concept -- which sounds like a hybrid of ESPN's "Manningcast" and TNT's failed 'Players Only' NBA broadcasts -- would include Brees as one of the analysts. It's unclear what other former quarterbacks could potentially join him.
In his first year of retirement, Brees served as an analyst for "Football Night in America," along with a color commentator for NBC's coverage of Notre Dame football and select NFL games. But with no path to potentially replacing Cris Collinsworth as the top analyst for Sunday Night Football, Brees and the network parted ways back in May.
There was some speculation that Brees could become the No. 1 game analyst for Prime Video, which is replacing FOX as the home of Thursday Night Football in 2022. Instead, the network elected to have Kirk Herbstreit serve as the color commentator alongside the legendary Al Michaels.
After Brees and NBC parted ways, Andrew Marchand of The New York Post reported that Brees was under consideration for FOX's No. 2 booth, a relatively coveted position. The previous No. 2 booth of Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen are becoming FOX's No. 1 booth in 2022, although Olsen is just keeping the seat warm until Tom Brady retires from good. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman -- the top booth for the network for two decades -- left for ESPN this offseason, as they try to return Monday Night Football to its former glory.
As for Brees, it's unclear if he actually has an offer in hand from either Amazon or FOX at this juncture. He may end up getting his pick of the two gigs, and he would be wise to make sure his second media stop is one that he has a ton of success at -- third chances rarely happen.
