Move over David Tyree, there is a new helmet catch in the NFL.
Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Ward made a spectacular catch in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys on a fake punt in the second quarter.

Cardinals safety Chris Banjo took the direct snap and fired a pass to Ward up the middle. Ward was being defended by Cowboys cornerback Nahshon Wright whose back was to the ball as it came in.
Ward was able to get a hand on the ball and then pinned it to the side of Wright’s helmet as the two tumbled to the ground. The ball never hit the ground as Ward kept it up against Wright’s helmet and shoulder pad the entire time and complete it for a 23-yard gain.
The drive ended with a Cardinals touchdown but Ward’s catch was getting all the buzz on social media with many calling it the catch of the year and one of the greatest catches ever.
The year is only two days old, but this one will certainly be tough to top. It is certainly the best catch of the 2021 season.
