The Bills sitting just above .500 has been one of this season's bigger surprises, but Jerry Jones is looking beyond their record as the Cowboys prepare to travel to Buffalo.
Josh Allen and Co. sit at 7-6 following their win over the Chiefs this weekend. In recent years they’ve been one of the best teams in the AFC, but have stumbled periodically this season and currently are two games back of the Dolphins for the division lead.
Despite the underwhelming campaign thus far, the Bills are chock full of talent. Allen on his day is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, with an offense that also boasts one of the most dangerous wideouts in Stefon Diggs. The defense has dealt with its share of injuries, but still has the personnel to wreak havoc on any given week.
Dallas’ 10-3 record had been criticized because the Cowboys didn’t necessarily have a marquee win against a top opponent. They made a statement this weekend by pummeling the Eagles, and Jones was asked Tuesday on Shan & RJ if there were any other hurdles he wanted his team to clear before the postseason.
“Well, this game we’re playing this weekend against the Bills,” Jones responded. “They’re a dangerous team. At any given time they can be as good as anybody in the NFL, in my mind. They’ve got the players, they've got the quarterback – they’re just a good team. We’re going to play them (in Buffalo). Of all the places that a home field advantage is different than the normal games you play, it’s Buffalo, New York. …
“This game coming up here is as good a challenge as we could have. I’m going to use the word again, it’s formidable, to step up there and come out with a win. So we don’t have to look any farther up the road than about five days from now.”
Jones was informed that the forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high of 46 degrees and 12 mph winds.
“I’ll go with it,” Jones said. “Here we are in the middle of December in Buffalo, New York, the gods are looking out after us.”
