DeVonta Smith, who has been making the media rounds ahead of Super Bowl LVI this week, has his work cut out for him getting back in the good graces of Eagles fans after offending Philadelphia with his blasphemous take on cheesesteaks, dismissing the city’s signature culinary creation as “overrated" (clearly our guy has never been to Dalessandro's in Roxborough). Luckily, Smith redeemed himself in a subsequent interview on Radio Row in Los Angeles, professing his love for Wawa, the popular convenience store chain headquartered in Delaware County.

“The shakes there are amazing. You can get anything at Wawa,” Smith said Wednesday during his appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz. “I like the sandwiches but the milkshakes are just like, I feel like you won’t get a better milkshake outside of Chick-fil-A.”

The Eagles rookie probably should have quit while he was ahead, though in fairness to Smith, Chick-fil-A’s milkshakes are indeed delicious. The 170-pound Smith doesn’t look like the type to indulge on Wawa hoagies, but apparently, he’s quite fond of them. The former Heisman winner enjoyed an astounding debut season, leading the Eagles in catches (64), receiving yards (916) and touchdowns (five). While Smith was pleased to make the playoffs after starting just 2-5, but wasn’t satisfied with the Eagles’ first-round exit, considering anything less than a championship to be a disappointment.

“The goal is to win a championship,” insists Smith. “Just getting to the playoffs wasn’t enough for us.”
