Three-time All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will serve a suspension for the first six games of the 2022 season after failing a performance-enhancing drug test. However, the Arizona Cardinals star didn't test positive for what you may have seen on Twitter.

While we're yet to hear what caused the five-time Pro Bowler to fail a PED test, Robin Lundberg of Sports Illustrated was among those to note that a tweet that made the rounds suggesting that Hopkins tested positive for "three separate types of anabolic steroids and low-grade beaver tranquilizer" was a joke. It's a reference to the 2004 cult classic Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story:

Hopkins issued the following statement on social media Monday night:

It should be noted that Hopkins has elected to accept the suspension, rather than moving forward with the appeal process.

A first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Hopkins has 789 receptions for 10,851 yards and 68 touchdowns during a nine-season career spent with the Cardinals and Houston Texans. Prior to his suspension, Hopkins' career was very much viewed as being on a Hall of Fame trajectory.
