It's 'abundantly clear' that Jets roster is good enough to win the Super Bowl

The New York Jets surprised a lot of people with their 20-14 win over the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Not only were the Jets 2-3 entering the game, but they were also without a few key pieces on the defensive side of the ball.

Danny Parkins of the Audacy original podcast “1st & Pod” had high praise for the Jets after their improbable win over the Eagles.

“Their roster is clearly good enough to win the Super Bowl. That’s abundantly clear,” Parkins said (10:00 in player above). “They didn’t have their top two corners in this game going up against A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith and Jalen Hurts, and they win. That’s an incredible accomplishment.”

Starting cornerbacks Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed, and Brandin Echols all missed Sunday’s game. Despite that, the Jets limited Jalen Hurts to 280 yards on 28 of 45 passing with one touchdown. Most importantly, they had three interceptions against the star quarterback.

The Jets’ defense is for real. Their running game is getting there. And they might have Aaron Rodgers back if they make the playoffs. That’s a recipe for success in today’s NFL.

“If somehow, someway they get into the postseason as a wild card in the AFC and have Aaron Rodgers back, they are an incredibly dangerous team,” Parkins continued. “And Breece Hall, as he works his way back from injury, is looking like a top-10 running back. And we know Garrett Wilson’s awesome.

“So top-five defense, good running back, good number-one receiver, and a real carrot out there to play for? Just stay alive until Rodgers comes back. They’re a very, very interesting team, and frankly, an easy team to root for right now because a lot of teams would crumble in this circumstance and they haven’t.”

The Jets have battled their way back to .500 at 3-3 after being written off due to Rodgers’ injury. They now have a week off before a big matchup in the Meadowlands against the Giants in Week 8.
