First, it was Calijah Kancey out of Pittsburgh, listed at six-foot and 280 pounds. He ran a 4.67 to break the previous record set by a defensive tackle and fellow Pitt product — Aaron Donald.

But Kancey’s 40 was an afterthought after Adetomiwa Adebawore went about an hour later.

The 282-pound defensive end from Northwestern clocked in officially at 4.49, giving him the fastest time for anyone in Combine history who weighed 280 pounds or more.

The previous mark was set by Mario Williams in 2006 when he ran a 4.66 at 295 pounds. His combine performance was so impressive he jumped ahead of Reggie Bush to become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2006 draft by the Houston Texans.

Adebawore also record a 10’5” on the broad jump and vertical of 37.5 inches, making him one of the standout performers of the day.

Of course, the combine does not necessarily always translate someone will be a great player, but it certainly shows the level of athleticism some of these players, in this case defensive lineman, can bring on the football field.
