In the latest details reported on New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara’s arrest, authorities say Kamara was among several men who got into an altercation with a man while waiting for an elevator.

A report from Las Vegas police describes the incident, which took place in the early hours of Saturday morning, per a report from NOLA.com.

The documents reveal that the victim, Darnell Greene, was leaving the Cromwell Casino at Drais After Dark Club for the night and made his way to the elevators where he and a group of men were also waiting for the elevator.

Greene tells authorities he struck a conversation with the men. As soon as the elevator doors opened, Greene says Kamara put his hands on Greene’s chest stopping him from walking on to the elevator. Greene pushed Kamara’s hand off his chest then he says he was pushed by someone and stumbled backwards. Greene says he was then punched and kicked by several men in the group. Greene lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital.

“The only one that Greene can remember is described as a black male in his 20’s, he was approximately 5’10”, muscular, and had either dreadlocks or braided hair. The suspect was wearing either a gray shirt or gray sweater,” the document says. The document says Greene’s eye was swollen shut and had fractures to the eye socket which may require surgery according to the report.

Police arrested Kamara at Allegiant Stadium, with the Saints running back interviewed about the events, confirming he was involved. The police report indicates that video of the incident shows the altercation, which involved one of the people Kamara was with initially striking Greene after heated words were exchanged. Police said Kamara admitted to throwing punches after seeing the fight break out next him, thinking the man had done something to his group and was then running away. Police said video does not corroborate that Greene was fleeing when the fight occurred.

Kamara was released from custody after posting $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
