Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has a resounding no, when it comes to any chance of him leaving Pittsburgh for a college program like LSU or USC.
“I mean that’s a joke to me, I got one of the best jobs in all of professional sport,” said Tomlin on Tuesday during his weekly press conference seemingly insulted the question was even asked. “Why would I have any interest in coaching college football?”
Speculation began last week when former Bill general manager Doug Whaley suggested said on the Fan Morning Show, Tomlin may consider a job at one of the two programs previously mentioned.
Former Steeler Ryan Clark also said last week he’s heard Tomlin’s name mentioned with USC in the past.
Talk of Tomlin leaving started to die down and then former USC quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Carson Palmer, who has been involved in decisions on who should be the next coach said Tomlin was being considered as a “wild card.”
“That will be the last time that I address it and not only today but moving forward, never say never but never,” said Tomlin.
“There’s not a booster with a blank check big enough,” added Tomlin who sounded angry answering the question. “Anybody asking Sean Payton about that? Anybody asking Andy Reid about stuff like that?”
Tomlin is under contract in Pittsburgh through 2024.
