Jessica Pegula is one of the best stories happening at the Australian Open.
The unseeded 26-year-old American advanced to the quarterfinals on Sunday after defeating No. 5 seed Elina Svitolina in a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory.
Pegula, whose parents Kim and Terry Pegula own the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, rallied from a 30-0 deficit after a second set loss to secure the win, too.
Afterward, she was getting some love from the Bills social media account after her big win.
Pegula had never advanced beyond the third round of a Grand Slam before, with here only tour win coming at the Citi Open championship in 2019.
But Pegula has now won four straight matches in Melbourne with upset victories over Svitolina and two-time champion Victoria Azarenka.
Pegula will face fellow American Jennifer Brady, ranked 22 overall, in the quarterfinals.
Pegula, Brady and Serena Williams are among the three Americans to reach the quarterfinals. Shelby Rogers could join them Monday if she defeats No. 1 seed Ashleigh Barty.
