The Sports Junkies react to Capitals late season slide: 'They're doneski'

The Capitals, a feel-good story in the NHL for much of the season, are suddenly stumbling towards the finish line, losers of six straight after falling to the lowly Senators in overtime.

After their latest loss, the Junkies tried to make sense of Washington’s sudden freefall.

“This is kind of what Brian MacLellan saw when he dealt pieces at the deadline,” JP said. “He saw an overachieving team that couldn’t score a lot of goals. That’s what we’re seeing down the stretch of the regular season.”

Whether it’s goal scoring drying up or the team simply coming back down to earth, the team’s playoff odds have plummeted in recent days, and Bishop doesn’t think there’s any coming back from it.

“They’re doneski,” Bish said. “You can’t lose six straight at this point in the season when you’re desperate for points.”
