For the first time during the 2023-24 NHL season, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin had a month that was vintage Ovechkin! And it reignited his Chase to 895.
What was once thought to be a distant fairytale, The Great Eight's chase of Wayne Gretzky's hallowed record of 894 goals — the top of the mountain among all-time career goal scorers — now seems distinctly within reach.

The Great 8 scored for the sixth straight game with a power-play goal (assists from John Carlson and Anthony Mantha) in the third period against the Colorado Avalanche. Career Goal Number 837, 838
He got an assist, but the goal-scoring streak came to an end in a 4-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens. But Ovi wasn't done yet, with a power-play goal to give the Washington Capitals a 6-2 win and give him 16 on the year and seven in February.
