Publix Limits Cleaning Supplies Amid Coronavirus

I'll be honest I'm not sure I quite understand the run on some of these cleaning products plus some other household items like toilet paper. Toilet paper? Really? I get and totally agree we need to wash our hands so call me old school but I believe in plain old soap and water to do the trick!

Well whatever the reason or scare behind it I don't need a lot of these cleaning supplies myself because well we still have them from our hurricane supplies we bought last year. Wow, who knew our hurricane supplies would come in handy minus the hurricane!

Some supermarkets, including Publix, have set limits to the number of items a person can buy when visiting their stores as COVID-19 cases become localized.

The virus has caused the public to stock up on cleaning supplies and disinfectants. In order to supply items to more people, purchase limits have been put into place.

“Due to the increase in demand over health concerns from the Coronavirus (COVID-19), purchase limits have been set for items,” a Publix spokeswoman said.

Shoppers are only allowed 2 items in certain sections

The new rules apply in the following sections:

  • Hand soaps & sanitizers
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Facial masks & gloves
  • Disinfectant wipes and sprays
  • Aerosol disinfectant sprays
  • Facial tissue
  • Cups/plates/utensils
  • Bleach

We create our own disinfecting spray with a little liquid dish soap, little alcohol and mostly water. Honestly cleans great! While it's important to use sanitzers remember the best defense regardless of the illness is just wash your hands before you touch your face, mouth, nose or eyes. This is very important especially after you've been some place where you've used an item that so many others have used. I learned this the hard way a couple of Christmas ago and I got a horrible stomach virus. I'm the queen of washing my hands now! Keep things in perspective and don't panic.
