I've only met a few true vegans. I was surprised to learn how strict their diet was and honestly I couldn't fathom having to follow it. Well, for many, especially the new converts to being a total vegan, giving up meat is quite a challenge. So a vegan company hopes their new creation will make the transition easier: the meat patch!
Well those addicted nicotine have a nicotine patch so makes sense a company would come up with a meat patch to help vegans wean off the habit of eating meat.
Charles Spence, a scientist at England's Oxford University who specializes inexperimental psychology, has teamed up with vegan frozen food brand Strong Roots to create a “meat patch” to help former carnivores curb their cravings for animal meat.
The patch is infused with the scent of bacon. When a person who is wearing the patch scratches it, it produces a smell similar to that of cooked bacon. Professor Spence explained that this may help those who wish to refrain from eating meat to “imagine” that they are eating bacon, which should supposedly sate their appetite.
Hmm if this works imagine the patches they can come up with for other food cravings? The chocolate patch, potato chips patch, peanut butter patch and the ice cream patch! However I can see myself instead of scratching the patch to smell the scent of the food I'd be too tempted to eat it...hence I'd chew the patch! Blaaah. ~grace
