The South Carolina Senate today passed a state budget change in favor of teachers and state workers.
The change gives a small raise to most teachers and gives hazard pay to some state workers with lower pay-rates.
In addition, the plan sets $500 million saved from the past two budged aside in case of further revenue dips caused by the Coronavirus.
These changes still have to go through the state House before being officially passed.
Governor McMaster asked legislators to wait before passing these changes because of the unstable fluctuation in the state economy caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.
