Third teen in custody for killing bus driver over $2.50 fare

A third teen has been charged in connection to the shooting death of a bus operator in DeKalb County, Georgia. He turned himself over to the authorities on Monday evening.

The incident that three teens are being charged as adults in connection to revolves around the shooting death of 47-year-old MARTA bus driver Leroy Ramos and allegedly happened because of a dispute over a $2.50 bus fare.

Two of the teens were taken into custody last Friday after the fatal shooting took place at the bus loop at Decatur MARTA station, authorities shared.

However, investigators shared that they believe the suspect who turned himself in on Monday is the one who pulled the trigger and killed Ramos, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Authorities have shared that the teens and Ramos got into an argument over the bus fare, and after things escalated, one of the suspects allegedly pulled a firearm and shot Ramos three times, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

He later died from his injuries.

The juveniles have been charged with aggravated assault and murder. The case is being processed in DeKalb County Superior Court.

Family, friends, and fellow union workers held an event over the weekend to honor Ramos. He left behind a wife and three children. A fundraiser has been launched to help assist his family with funeral costs.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time, and the identities of the suspects have not been released due to their age.
