Trump, Melania and Barron land in DC for inauguration

President-elect Donald Trump has landed in Washington, D.C., ahead of his upcoming inauguration. That event is expected to be held inside due to cold weather in the Capitol, he announced Friday.

According to The Hill, Trump landed at Dulles International Airport in Virginia just after 7 p.m. Saturday with his wife, Melania and his youngest son, Barron. Karoline Leavitt, spokesperson for the transition of Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance into the White House, said in a Saturday X post that Trump and Melania were leaving his West Palm Beach, Fla., estate Mar-a-Lago for D.C.

From there, The Hill said the family boarded an Air Force plane at just after 4:30 p.m. That plane left from Palm Beach International Airport. Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner, Eric Trump, his wife Lara and their children boarded Trump’s plane in Palm Beach for their trip to D.C. about an hour before Trump left, The Hill reported.

Earlier this week, Audacy covered reports that Trump’s inauguration will have the most stringent security in history. While on the campaign trail, he survived multiple assassination attempts.

It is also expected to be the first inauguration held indoors since Ronald Reagan’s in 1985. After the inauguration, Trump said he plans to hold a victory rally at Capital One Arena. Around 250,000 ticketed guests were reportedly expected to attend the inauguration prior to the announcement that it would be held indoors.
