Joel Embiid signs 3-year extension with 76ers: 'I want to be here for rest of my career'

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed on a three-year maximum contract extension worth $192.9 million, potentially keeping him with the organization through 2029.

The deal now gives Embiid a total of five-years on his contract worth $301 million, one of the three richest deals in NBA history, per Shams Charania.

Embiid has now surpassed the $500 million mark in career earnings, joining LeBron James, Stephen Curry, teammate Paul George, and Kevin Durant in that category.

“Philadelphia is home,” Embiid wrote on his Instagram account. “I want to be here for the rest of my career. I love this community and everything you've given me and my family. There is a lot more work to do. You guys deserve a championship and I think we're just getting started. #trustheprocess."

The Sixers released a statement from owner Joshua Harris.
