Virginia Warbird Weekend June 19-20, 2021

The Military Aviation Museum is resuming large scale performances with its historic aircraft, announcing plans to bring a WWII Airfield to life all around you, with the launch of Virginia Warbird Weekend. This two day flying event, June 19th & 20th, will be added to their line-up of yearly air shows and activities and will showcase their rare and historic WWII aircraft such as the iconic P-51 Mustang, Corsair, Spitfire, Wildcat and PBY Catalina.
The museum’s aircraft from WWI and WWII are considered to be one of the largest flying collections in the world, with many aircraft having seen active military service and painstakingly restored back to flight. The weekend’s guests will be witnessing history as these former products of the arsenal of democracy take to the skies.
Kicking off the 2021 season, Virginia Warbird Weekend guests will experience these incredible aircraft flying all day (with some surprise performers!), along with WWII reenactors, live 1940’s entertainment, a photography workshop, a kid’s Aviation Exploration Station and vintage aircraft rides.
Museum Director, Keegan Chetwynd explains, “This year’s focus is on celebrating the special connection between the Hampton Roads Community and Naval Aviation. Along with enjoying flight demonstrations of some of WWII’s most famous Naval fighters and bombers, there will be special flights to commemorate aircraft designs over 100 years old, at the birth of Naval Aviation!”
