Ed Sheeran did some thinking out loud in the early hours of Tuesday morning, confirming that he and Cherry Seaborn did in fact give birth to a baby girl last week. In an Instagram post, the "Shape Of You" singer offered fans an update on the latest member of the family.
"A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you... Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran," Ed revealed. "We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back."
The post from Sheeran is his first of the year, after taking a break from social media in December at the close of his record-breaking Divide Tour. In the last few months, Sheeran hasn't spoken out about anything, but he has still managed to make news from his generosity, refusing to furlough workers at his bar during the pandemic, and donating a large amount of money to school art programs.
Rumors about the birth of Cherry and Ed's child surfaced in August, but the notoriously private artist did not lend them any credibility until today. Sheeran and Seaborn quietly married in December of 2018.
