The Guinness Book of World Records announced just yesterday that “Material Girl” and “Madame X” Madonna remains the top-selling female act of all time. “Queen of Pop Madonna seems to be unreachable when it comes to music sales,” the publication said, seemingly validating the 400 million units sold that the artist mentioned on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon just last year. Madonna has now maintained this #1 spot since 2009, and comes in fourth place for best selling musical artist overall (beaten only by The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson). While the publication acknowledged that, “precise sales figures are difficult to obtain” between all albums, singles, and digital sales, Guinness acknowledged that she maintains a significant stride ahead other female artists, with, “no one else coming close to beating her.”

Though powerhouses, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé make up the top five female sales after Madonna, and her 40-year career in the music industry makes her sales and influence nearly untouchable. She has 17 studio albums, 6 live albums, an impressive list of chart-topping singles and all still rack in profit.

Add the records don't stop there, as Madonna is also certified as the highest-grossing female touring artist of all time. As the first woman to earn $1 billion in concert revenue, Guinness counted the singer’s concert box-office sales as a massive $1,389,746,222 as of July 2022. It’s worth noting, however, that Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour has yet to be counted by Guinness, with some outlets estimating it sold $2.2 billion in North American sales already. At the same time, Madonna’s currently running Celebration Tour has yet to be counted either, making this record one to watch for next year.

Whatever records she earns, there’s one thing the world can never take away from this Queen of Pop - “B****, She's Madonna!”
