(610 Sports) – You would never know that Chiefs' center Creed Humphrey was a rookie if you watched his play on the field, this season.
With Humphrey, there weren't the typical boneheaded penalties in crucial situations that you tend to see from most first-year players. Honestly, you didn't see penalties from him in any situations, as Creed was flagged just 4 times on the season, with 3 of those penalties being declined or offset by defensive infractions.
So, what's the secret to the success that landed the Chiefs' second-round pick on the Pro Football Focus All-Pro team, as the highest-graded center in the NFL? It turns out, that there's really no "secret," at all.
On Thursday, Humphrey joined 610 Sports' Cody & Gold, the masterminds behind the #CreedIsGood push, an effort to get Humphrey into the 'Offensive Rookie of the Year' conversation. During their conversation, Humphrey was asked about his seamless transition into the NFL and how he's been able to play at such a high level, so early in his NFL career.
"Coming into the rookie year, really it was just focused on getting the playbook down and building that trust with the guys around me, so that's really what I was just focused on," said Humphrey. "Really, just took it step-by-step, you know I've got great players around me that make my job easier from their help and everything."
"We've had a great season, so far, and we're gonna continue to build on it."
