Consistency is key for Mahomes in playoff preparation

(610 Sports) – With the NFL regular season officially in the rearview, the Kansas City Chiefs now turn their attention towards the playoffs and a first-round matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

For star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, it's business as usual in terms of preparation and workouts, as he looks to lead Kansas City to their straight Super Bowl appearance.

Joining show host Carrington Harrison of 610 Sports' The Drive, Mahomes was asked about his postseason preparation and what changes for him as the team pivots from the NFL regular season to the playoffs.

"I keep it pretty similar," said Mahomes, when asked about changes to his postseason preparation. "I'm gonna watch the film that I watch every single week, I'm gonna prepare my body the way I prepare my body and try to go about it knowing it's do or die, you win or you're going home"

Essentially, Mahomes' playoff preparation is a more intense version of what he would do to get ready for a regular-season game. The process is already in place, but knowing everything rides on this single performance enhances the importance of it all.

"For me, keep the schedule the way it's been and try to go out there and play my best football when we need it the most."

One thing he will look to avoid, however, is trying to shoulder the entire load.

"You wanna prepare the right way," said Mahomes. "You wanna make sure you're not trying to do too much and I think we got the guys to do it."
