(610 Sports) - Patrick Mahomes was a three-sport athlete in high school and according to his then high school Athletic Director, Richard Peacock, Mahomes could have played Division 1 in any of them, including basketball, which was Patrick's third sport.
Playing quarterback is a lot like playing point guard, you have the ball in your hands and it's your responsibility to distribute to your playmakers or make the play yourself, which nobody does quite like the Chiefs point guard, Patrick Mahomes.
With a team full of superstars on the offensive side of the ball, you have to wonder how delicate that balance is? Does Tyreek Hill need a certain number of targets to keep him happy, what about Travis Kelce? Sammy Watkins makes a lot of money, so he probably has to be looked out for, as well, right?
Joining 'The Drive' on Wednesday afternoon, that dynamic became a topic of discussion.
"Is it ever hard to keep everybody happy, because you have all these superstars on offense and you had five different guys that finished with 60-plus yards, how important is it to you to play point guard out there and share the wealth with everybody," Mahomes was asked?
"Yeah, I think it's just more important to find the open guy, I think that's the biggest thing. I think our receivers and tight-ends and running backs do a great job and they don't care who gets the success, they just want to go out there and show why they're the best in the league and as a group," Mahomes said.
"I think our guys can match up with anybody and we can get guys open and whatever defenses take away, the other guys are gonna get open. I think we did a great job this past week all-around, when guys numbers got called, they made play."
