The Kansas City Chiefs have been making headlines both on and off the field this season thanks to superstar tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce has been connected to Taylor Swift since early this season and she’s brought some good luck to the tight end.
However, the Chiefs lost on Sunday without Swift in attendance.
Former NFL lineman Mark Schlereth of the Audacy original podcast “Stinkin Truth” had some strong words for Swift and her Swifties while co-host Mike Evans tried to talk him down.
Schlereth: “If Travis Kelce doesn’t have one of them nine-reception, 120-yard type of game with two touchdowns."
Evans: “We call that a Taylor game. A Swiftie game.”
Schlereth: “Taylor Swift is ruining the Kansas City Chiefs.”
Evans: “Or she’s the key to the Kansas City Chiefs.”
The Chiefs won all four games Swift attended before suffering their second loss of the season in Denver on Sunday. They now travel to Germany for a matchup against the Dolphins.
“She can’t show up to every game,” Schlereth continued. “Is she going to be in Germany? There’s a loss."
“Don’t start blaming losses on Taylor Swift,” Evans replied. “You do not want the Swifties coming after you.”
“Come and get it, Swifties,” Schlereth said.
Schlereth has fought his fair share of battles both as a player and analyst over the years.
“I know you had your battles with Philly fans and Jets fans,” Evans said. “This is a whole nother level. You don’t want this smoke.”
“Oh, I want the smoke,” Schlereth reiterated. “Taylor Swift cost the Chiefs a win against the Broncos. Her selfishness has cost the Chiefs and will cost them again if she doesn’t show up to Germany.”
While Schlereth’s comments were a bit tongue-in-cheek, it’ll be an interesting development to watch over the course of the season.
