If Yankees fans thought the infected tattoo was something, well, Aroldis Chapman is out of action right now because of another freak injury.

According to MLB.com Royals beat writer Anne Rogers, Chapman slipped and fell at his house Saturday night, cracking a tooth and splitting his lip open bad enough to require stitches.
Chapman told Rogers he’s feeling okay, but the injury is still pretty swollen. However, he was hoping to play catch later Monday, throw a bullpen Tuesday, and get into a Cactus League game soon.
The now 34-year-old lefty signed a one-year, $3.75 million deal with the Royals in January, and is expected to compete with incumbent Scott Barlow for the Royals’ closer job. He does so coming off the worst season of his career in many regards – he had a career-worst 4.46 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 36 1/3 innings with the Yankees last year, missed time with that infected tattoo, and then skipped out on a team workout before the ALDS and was essentially banished during the Yankees’ playoff run.
