What does Vinnie Pasquantino bring to the Royals?

Trade deadline szn is officially underway in Kansas City on Monday, with the team making a deal to send first baseman Carlos Santana to the Seattle Mariners. Perhaps more notably, however, was the corresponding news that, with Santana now in Seattle, the team was finally calling up Vinnie Pasquantino. Fans have been waiting to see what Pasquantino, one of the teams top hitting prospects, can do at the Major League level all season, and now will finally get the chance to do so. Speaking with 610's Cody and Gold on Monday, Royals Insider Josh Vernier gave a brief explainer of what they can expect.

"While Bobby Witt Jr. is the total package -- he's a super star, he does everything at an elite level -- when it comes to just pure hitting ability, I think Pasquantino is the best of the bunch," Vernier said. "He has to do it at the big league level, I don't want to get ahead of myself ... This team which, again, is one of the worst in Major League Baseball, and the reason why is because they're so inconsistent. There aren't many things you can count on. What you can count on is Bobby Witt Jr. to do something spectacular, and MJ Melendez to give you a quality at-bat. I think another thing we're going to be able to add to that now is Vinnie Pasquantino giving you a solid at-bat four times each and every night. I'm excited to see what the middle of the lineup becomes, because I'm already excited to watch it on a nightly basis. And now you're adding a guy that might have the best hit tool of the bunch."
