(670 The Score) The legend of Michael Jordan lives beyond his accomplishments on the court. To this day, stories still emerge of the iconic figure and his persona as he led the Bulls dynasty in the 1990s.

It's well-known that Jordan and his teammates enjoyed a good wager. And like with everything he did, Jordan refused to lose. That was even the case in the virtual Dunkin' Donut race, which is a fan favorite and longtime tradition that's shown on the United Center's video board during games.

Jordan would bet his Bulls teammates on those races, for which he already knew the winner, former teammate Will Perdue told the McNeil & Parkins Show on Thursday.

"They rehearse all that earlier in the day," Perdue said. "There's nothing that happens at a game that's a dry run except for the game itself. Everything else is rehearsed. And the security guys have to get there early to prepare for us to get there, to prepare for their meetings, for the doors to open. And the security guys would always watch the race as it was being rehearsed, and then they would go tell Michael who won.

"He would bet guys. 'Hey, I'll bet you a dollar, I'll take Cuppy Coffee.' But he would also occasionally throw off and let you pick first, even though he already knew who won, so he would throw off and lose. But he would probably win 90 percent of the time, and we found out later he was always getting the head's up on who the winner was.

"That's who Michael Jordan was. Win at all costs. There's the old joke that Michael would throw his mom under the bus if he thought it would help him win. Well not only would he throw her under the bus, if he threw it in reverse, he'd run her over again so he can win by double figures. He'd do that too."
