(670 The Score) Bears star receiver Allen Robinson has been in a stalemate with the team for weeks regarding contract extension negotiations. Now his agent is publicly expressing his displeasure with the Bears’ play-calling.
Brandon Parker, who represents Robinson, tweeted his disdain for the Bears’ approach as a drive of theirs stalled deep in Vikings territory late in the first quarter and they settled for a field goal Monday evening.
“Throw 12 the Damn Ball in the Redzone! JUST ONCE! My goodness..” Parker tweeted.
With first-and-goal from the Vikings’ 7-yard line, the Bears threw an incomplete pass to tight end Jimmy Graham, rushed running back Cordarrelle Patterson for two yards and then threw an incomplete pass to receiver Anthony Miller.
“Should he not be the first read in the redzone 99% of the time?” Parker tweeted. “Only team in the league that won’t throw it to the WR1 in the redzone. Same guy who’s leading the league in contested catches.. What’s really going on?”
Back in September, Parker acknowledged that he and Robinson were unhappy the Bears hadn't offered a contract extension to their liking. The sides haven’t had substantive negotiations since.
Entering play Monday, Robinson led the Bears with 57 receptions for 712 yards and three touchdowns this season. Robinson finished with six catches for 43 yards in the Bears' eventual 19-13 loss. He was targeted nine times.
