Bears activate cornerback Kyler Gordon from injured reserve ahead of playoff game against Packers

(670 The Score) Bears nickelback Kyler Gordon is rejoining the team for the playoffs.

Gordon was officially activated from injured reserve Saturday afternoon, hours prior to kickoff of the Bears' wild-card game against the Packers at Soldier Field.

Gordon has played in just three games this season, as he has been set back by multiple lower-body injuries. The most recent issue came when he suffered a groin injury during pregame warmups at Lambeau Field on Dec. 7.

It's unclear what type of role Gordon will play for the Bears' defense, but the expectation was that he would be ready to contribute.

"It gives us another playmaker,” Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said. “Obviously, it’s been unfortunate that we haven’t had him much this season. But he was a guy coming into the season we were really excited about. I feel like he can help us make some plays and help us win."

The Bears' active roster was previously at 52, so no corresponding roster moves were required to activate Gordon. In other moves, the team elevated tight end Nikola Kalinic and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin from the practice squad. Offensive tackle Braxton Jones (knee) was ruled out.

The Bears and Packers will kick off at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday from Soldier Field.
