Bears CB Jaylon Johnson says he can't rush quad injury

(670 The Score) Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson felt a pain in his leg while running in coverage last Thursday during practice at Halas Hall and realized something wasn’t right.

Johnson was diagnosed with a quad injury that forced him to miss the Bears’ 23-20 win over the Texans on Sunday at Soldier Field. As he told the Parkins & Spiegel Show on Monday afternoon, it's an injury that will require patience.

"Of course I'm ready and hungry to play,” Johnson said during his regular Monday appearance. “But I feel like it's nothing that I want to rush and make worse."

Johnson indicated that he could miss the Bears' game against the Giants on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, though how his recovery progresses will ultimately dictate that.

Without Johnson, the Bears turned to cornerback Kindle Vildor for an increased role. Rookie Jaylon Jones also saw his first action on defense this season.

The Bears will release their next injury report Wednesday afternoon, which will offer further clarity to Johnson's status.
