(670 The Score) Nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon and the Bears have reached an agreement on a three-year contract extension worth up to $40 million, ESPN first reported Sunday.
Gordon, 25, was a second-round pick of the Bears in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was the first ever player selected by general manager Ryan Poles, who locked Gordon down on his second contract Sunday. The deal includes $31.25 million guaranteed, ESPN reported.
Gordon has played in 42 games over three NFL seasons, hauling in five interceptions. He has established himself as one of the league's premier nickel cornerbacks.
In March, Gordon expressed interest in reaching an extension with the Bears.
“I love Chicago, I love everything about it,” Gordon said while accepting the Ed Block Courage Award at a banquet in Des Plaines. “The people, the history, the team, community. This is where God is telling me to be, this is where I will be. It’s where I want to be. As far as an extension, we’ll see what happens. I’ve got no control over that, but God willing.
“It’s just all about doing it right. I’m not really pressed for time, whether it’s here now or later. I think it’s just about doing right and being fair about it.”
