(670 The Score) Bears receiver DJ Moore is content with his role amid the team’s 1-2 start and offensive struggles early in the season.
In three games, Moore hasn’t been much of a downfield threat at all. He has 19 catches for 167 yards, an average of 8.8 yards per reception. Moore averaged 14.2 yards per reception in a strong 2023 season, his first in Chicago. He has averaged 14.1 yards per catch for his career.
In the Bears’ 21-16 loss to the Colts on Sunday, Moore had eight catches for 78 yards, but one of those was a 44-yard reception off a tipped Hail Mary pass. On the designed plays, he had seven receptions went for 34 yards.
“I’m cool with it right now,” Moore said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Monday morning. “As long as I get touches and there are positive plays, then I’m not going to say too much. I don’t really say too much about the game plan anyway. I just go out there and do what’s asked of me, and that’s that. Right now, I know we’re all still trying to figure out the identity of what’s going on and how to use different players (in) the scheme, during the game. But it’s nothing I can really complain about.”
Moore then surmised that opposing teams could press him even more at the line of scrimmage, which could then in turn open more opportunities downfield.
“Going in week to week, it could change,” Moore said.
The Bears are averaging 176.7 passing yards per game, which ranks 25th in the NFL as of Monday morning. They’re averaging 17.7 points, which ranks 21st in the league.
