LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — Six-time Pro Bowl receiver Keenan Allen remained sidelined from Bears practice Wednesday.
Allen is still dealing with plantar fasciitis and is unable to take the field. He missed the Bears’ 19-13 loss to the Texans on Sunday in Houston after resting his injury in practice earlier last week. Now, Allen's status for the Bears' game against the Colts this coming Sunday is also in question.
“We’re trying to get him back on the grass as fast as possible,” head coach Matt Eberflus said.
“We’re obviously wanting him to come back as fast as possible, but it’s got to be right for him.”
Allen suffered the injury late in the preseason due to an issue with his cleat, general manager Ryan Poles previously said. Allen practiced in a limited role in the week leading up to the Bears' season opener. He played in the opener, recording four cathces, but also checked out of the game due to the injury.
Eberflus indicated Allen’s status will be determined in large part to his pain tolerance in his heel. A specific timetable for his return remains unclear.
The Bears traded a fourth-round pick to the Chargers in March to acquire the 32-year-old Allen, who has enjoyed a Hall of Fame-caliber career and is in his 12th NFL season. Allen had a career-high 108 receptions in 2023, when he played 13 games.
Bears right guard Teven Jenkins (thigh bruise), fullback Khari Blasingame (knee) and defensive tackle Zacch Pickens (groin) were also held out of practice Wednesday. Star pass rusher Montez Sweat (elbow), receiver Rome Odunze (knee), right guard Nate Davis (groin), defensive tackle Andrew Billings (groin), defensive end DeMarcus Walker (foot) and tackle Kiran Amegadjie (quad) were limited participants in practice.
The Bears (1-1) and Colts (0-2) kick off at noon CT on Sunday from Lucas Oil Stadium.
