Bears, NFL monitoring virus situation with team's practice squad

The Bears have placed three practice squad players on the COVID-19 reserve list.

(670 The Score) The Bears and the NFL are monitoring a COVID-19 situation with Chicago's roster after a third practice squad player on the team tested positive for the virus.

The Bears placed practice squad receiver Thomas Ives on the COVID-19 reserve list Tuesday, a day after linebacker Manti Te'o and defensive lineman LaCale London were designated to that list Monday.

Contact tracing deemed the Bears' three practice squad players to have tested positive independent of each other, a source said. This means the team and league have currently ruled out an outbreak.

The NFL recently placed all teams into intensive protocols in an attempt to mitigate the risk of potential spread. The Bears have also worked with their own protocols in place, such as virtual position group meetings and team gatherings spaced out inside the Walter Payton Center.

The Bears are scheduled to practice Wednesday in preparation for their game against the Texans on Sunday at Soldier Field.
