LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- The Bears have placed linebacker Danny Trevathan and offensive tackle Teven Jenkins on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.

Trevathan is dealing with a knee issue that lingered throughout the course of training camp, general manager Ryan Pace said. Players on injured reserve are required to miss a minimum of three weeks.

"He’s had a knee that’s kind of been bothersome this camp and our plan, especially with these IR rules being pretty flexible for us, is to go ahead and get him on there and let him kind of take his time," Pace said Wednesday. "Make sure he’s 100% before we put him out there. We’re just kind of working through that. Make sure we get him 100%. It’s what is best for him. It’s what is best for us."

Without Trevathan, the Bears will likely turn to veteran Alec Ogletree as a starter alongside Roquan Smith. The eight-year veteran Ogletree signed with the Bears in early August.

A second-round pick of the Bears in April, Jenkins underwent back surgery in August. The team is hopeful he can return later this season, though no timetable has been shared.

"When he showed up for training camp he was experiencing different symptoms than he ever had in college, so we kind of worked through that," Pace said. "We tried to kind of go through all of the natural processes and we went through that. At the end of the day, it did require a surgery. It was a common surgery. The good thing about it? As soon as we did it, those symptoms went away. So we feel good about it. There’s a reason why we waited to put him on IR until today. It gives us the possibility to bring him back at some point this season."

In other moves, the Bears signed cornerback Artie Burns and cornerback Tre Roberson to the 53-man roster. Receiver Rodney Adams was waived.

The Bears also signed 13 players to their practice squad. They still have three spots to fill on it.
