LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — The Bears on Thursday placed safety Jaquan Brisker on injured reserve as he continues to recover from a concussion, which he suffered in a game on Oct. 6.
That marked Brisker's third known concussion in three NFL seasons, and he hasn't yet been cleared from the league's protocol. He has been present with the team at Halas Hall, including Thursday prior to practice, but the Bears earlier this week had already ruled out Brisker for their game against the Packers on Sunday.
"I always have concern with anyone that's in concussion (protocol),” Eberflus said of Brisker on Oct. 23. "It's a big injury. It's something that you've got to be very careful about and our guys do a great job with those guys working through the protocol. That's why it's in place and that's why the NFL has instituted that. It's where it is right now and we're hoping that he's getting better every single day."
The 25-year-old Brisker is required to miss at least four games after being placed on injured reserve. A timeline for his return remains unclear. Brisker hasn't commented publicly on his health since entering the concussion protocol.
In other Bears injury news, star pass rusher Montez Sweat returned to practice Thursday after being held out Wednesday with an ankle injury. Sweat has been hobbled Oct. 27, when he exited the Bears' loss to the Commanders with a shin injury. He has 3.5 sacks in eight contests this season.
Bears left tackle Braxton Jones (knee) and right tackle Darnell Wright (knee) practiced in a limited fashion for a second straight day Thursday after they each missed Chicago's loss to New England on Sunday. Veteran defensive end Darrell Taylor (knee) and linebacker Noah Sewell (knee) were also limited participants. Right guard Teven Jenkins (ankle) and rookie offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie (calf) didn't practice.
The Bears (4-5) and Packers (6-3) will kick off at noon CT on Sunday at Soldier Field.
